Newsletter

Recently I have found myself moaning about the availability of lipo battery’s and how much they have increased in price something not exclusive to the modelling world I am afraid. After one of my moans at the computer screen I made myself a cup of tea and watched the news. The news greeted me with a feature on a single parent family, he had unfortunately injured himself at work so could not work, he had to eat the children’s left overs and choose which twenty minute period of the day/night the heating could go on. The second feature was about the town/city that Ukraine had taken back from the Russians, utter devastation with people with no drinking water and little shelter.

Sometimes I think to myself the availability of lipo battery’s is of little relevance in the grand scale of things.

Anyhow on with cheerful matters.

Club AGM

By now you will have all received communication with regard to the only formal club event of the year, check your email, check the club Facebook page, check the club Messenger page you will have received it.

Please make every effort to attend as this is your chance to listen to the committee, review the finances and if needed raise concerns you have.

If you fancy having a go on the committee then this is when you can get proposed and find somebody to second you, if there are more people proposed than available places than a ballot will take place on the evening.

Annual Quiz Night and Hot Pot Supper

So make a note of the date 14th December Marton Institute.
This is as the title says a quiz night and a FREE hot pot supper, yes that’s free to you.

The quiz is normally a light hearted event until the cheating starts !!! the lengths people will go to win some tacky prize is unbelievable.
Don’t worry the questions will cater or everybody, well nearly everybody..

Please make every effort to attend we cannot have Paul Cusworth and Jim Sheldon eating five portions of hot pot each again.

Bonfire Night

Saturday 5th November was the club bonfire night held at the field. I could not attend unfortunately, my wife had given me several weeks notice that we were going out that evening and not to a field in Weeton.

From all accounts it was a great evening with plenty of food to eat and a good turn out

Jake had sourced some fireworks which looked like NATO ex stock and apparently were very impressive with only very large one falling over which kept the pilots who were flying hopping around.

Stan who has been popping down throughout the year taking photographs for us again did the honours and managed to capture some fantastic images.

As the norm I have enclosed some images below for your viewing, because I wanted to include a few images the newsletter will be slightly larger in size than normal

Trainers

Below is the list of current trainers for the club. Get to know these people if you are learning to fly. Ask them for their phone numbers so that you can ring them to check availability. This save’s wasted journeys which can lead to frustration for trainees.

Jason Reid, Mark Conlin, John Higgins, Brian Holdsworth, Chris Vernon, Andy Harrison, Jim Sheldon, Paul Cusworth, Justin Goldstone and Kevin Watson.

The vast majority of these trainers are in employment so their availability is governed by their work. Please bear this in mind when arranging a flying session

Don’t forget the main training session during the summer is Wednesday nights, weather dependant of course

This is the last newsletter of the year so have a merry Christmas and a happy new year

Stay Safe
