Just come back from the flying field and its the first time for many a week that I had to put a fleece on and long trousers.
Early on in the morning there was a feel of autumn around with the strip very wet plus even on a nice day by seven o’clock its dark but not to worry spring will be here before we know it.
In the grand scale of things wet flying fields and dark nights are nothing to worry about if you look at the news every day.
Drone Show
At weekend I visited Stanley Park (Blackpool) to watch the night drone show to celebrate the park being one hundred years old, it was very good and also very clever.
I/we were stood in line from where the drones where being launched, they were launching in banks of about one hundred, my wife said it looked like a scene from a Stars Wars films with the swarms hovering waiting to start the show, apparently there were approx one thousand drones in the air at once.
My wife did ask me what size charger/chargers must they use to charge that many batteries, a very good point I thought, she was less than impressed with my answer when I said ‘A big one’
The company that did the show is called Celestial check out their website its very interesting.
A Certificate.
Our club examiner (Dave Hindley) recently passed another member for their BMFA A certificate.
Well done to Alan Cosgrove.
Winter Social Meetings
As you know or not if you are a new member and have not been told the club holds indoor social meetings once a month at Blackpool Marton Institute.
These are informal meetings with varying talks and the odd competition thrown in, the only formal meeting is the club AGM which I would urge everybody to attend as this a chance to listen to how the club is doing and your chance to hear the committees end of year reports.
You may want to consider standing for a committee position.
Below is a poster highlighting the dates of the meetings.
The annual quiz night and hot pot is always an interesting meeting with badness in everybody coming out !!!!
I would recommend from now on watching the news and indeed adverts on the TV because the questions will cover all sorts of useless subjects not just model flying/aviation questions.
If you are caught cheating by using Google on your phone you will be struck off the results and named and shamed, you know who you are.
Its the same people every year.

Glider Day
The other Sunday the club held its last field event of the year which was the glider day, electric, battery powered, chuck gliders, bungee gliders, gliders that required aero towing were all welcome.
Well for a change the conditions were superb, warm, no wind and indeed some good thermals in the afternoon.
It was a good turn out and a good selection of models there.
Stand out points for me were Tim Caswell bungee launch glider and the aero tow using a Multiplex Fun Cub plane powered by a 6s Lipo.
This plane had never been used as a tow plane before and there were a lot of doubters however will the appropriate glider behind it the performance was really good, Jason towed my Multiplex Lentus glider up to 515ft before releasing.
Mark Conlin also brought along his Pilot Decathlon glider tug and successfully towed Anthony Ollerton’s Pilatus glider up to height that was beginning to freak Anthony out, spurred on by the whole of the pits shouting ‘Higher Higher’ he stayed on the tow line, upon release he caught a thermal had a great flight.
I must mention Jakes latest glider which is majestic in the air, powered by a 12s system it has a presence in the air and with the size and weight has fantastic energy retention for aerobatics .
Below are some photos of the day.
It was also great to see John Smith at the field, his health not been great recently.

Trainers/Trainees
The list of club trainers has been refreshed and their names are below.
A couple of the trainers are of an age where work does not get in the way and if contacted may be able to accommodate mid week sessions.
As a trainee get to know these trainers if needed ask for their phone numbers or use the Clubs messenger group to make contact with them.
Don’t rely on the same trainer all the time, all the trainers will offer the same amount of training and to the same standard/goal.
Training sessions are Wednesday evening and Sunday mornings weather dependant of course
Trainers :
Chris Vernon, Jason Reid, Jake Reid, Mark Conlin, Andy Harrison, Anthony Ollerton, Dave Hindley, Kev Watson
