Newsletter

Happy New Year to you all !!!

I hope Santa bought something good and you have finished all the Christmas chocolate and are eating salad (not)

So first thing first if you have not renewed your membership you need to do it now, its up to you to get it paid, the club will not come reminding you.

Easiest way is to go onto the clubs webpage, find the membership section and renew on line, you will have to transfer the money into the clubs bank account.

So whats happened since the last newsletter of last year ???

The annual AGM took place, for those of you who did attend you will of heard Mark Conlin give an excellent update of the clubs finances and an update with regard to the renewal of the flying field licence/permit, apparently it is not called a lease anymore.

Following on from the AGM the Wednesday before Christmas was the quiz night and hot pot supper. This was an excellent night and for those of you who attended superb hot pot and apple pie. Thanks Justin for sorting this out.

The quiz as per normal was entered into with good humour, one team had the cheek to question the quizmaster on one of the answers, scandalous !!!

The winning team was lead by Dave Hindley with a score of more than the other teams, I lost the piece of paper with the final scores on. Well done Dave and team

First Indoor Meeting 8th Jan

Always a difficult meeting to get people to attend the first week after new year but it turned out to be a cracking evening.

Jake brought along a pile of balsa wood, depron sheet, glue, knifes and cutting boards to make chuck gliders.

Different approaches where taken with regard to design/build of the gliders, Steve Warburton and Porsche Tim appeared to have brought along their own design studio with various cutting implants, french curves and deluxe hot glue guns. Steve Warburton was huddled away on his own as if he was designing/making the latest top secret stealth fighter !!!

The competition was run over three ‘chucks’ with the longest duration of time being declared the winner.

The results as follows :

1st Place ‘Porsche’ Tim (His french curves and high end glue gun must work)

2nd place Chris Vernon

3rd Place ‘Tesla Tim’

Some photos of the evening

Newsletter Content

A club newsletter is only as good as it content. If anybody wants an article including in the newsletter please let me know, it could be an article about a model you have bought/built, a refurb of model, refurb of your building room or a new model related tool you have purchased.

If anybody has any old club photographs that can be scanned I can add them with some commentary.

I have been asked in the past about having a for sale section in the newsletter, I don’t think the newsletter is the platform for this, it would be to hard to manage and the club has other media (messenger chat line) which is more suited to selling articles.

Trainers/Trainees

The list of club trainers has been refreshed and their names are below.

If you are a trainee please bear in mind the vast majority of these people work during the day so if you turn up at the field on a Thursday morning for example please don’t get annoyed that there are no trainers there.

A couple of the trainers are of an age where work does not get in the way and if contacted may be able to accommodate mid week sessions.

As a trainee get to know these trainers if needed ask for their phone numbers or use the Clubs messenger group to make contact with them.

Don’t rely on the same trainer all the time, all the trainers will offer the same amount of training and to the same standard/goal.

Trainers :

Chris Vernon, Jason Reid, Jake Reid, Mark Conlin, Andy Harrison, Anthony Ollerton, Dave Hindley, Kev Watson

Upcoming events:

The committee are busy working the events for the forthcoming season and as soon as they are available I will add them to a newsletter
